This is the first a number of postings that will document fieldwork this past summer on Easton Glacier in the Northern Cascades.
My guide, Dr. Mauri Pelto, is one of the world’s recognized experts on glacier and ice dynamics and has been documenting the decline of the Cascades glaciers for the last 30 years. I interviewed Mauri on a number of topics – the first one here gives us an overview of a major North American glacier and its changes over the last century and a half. Working on more as I go through this material – stay tuned.
