Real images make it not so cut-and-dried, but I agree. The sorts of ships that would be making the passage, and it's been standard practice the last couple of years to have the Coast Guard or an ice breaker on alert.

I'm tracking how quickly ice flows out of the Fram Strait

and the Northeast and Northwest passages.

yep, it is open, and I don't see the economic advantage.
