Sock puppet for Koch Industries, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce doesn't want the EPA to have oversight over toxic chemicals like: Bisphenol A (BPA), benzidine-based dyes, hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), long-chain perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), nonylphenol (NP) and nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), phthalates, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), and toluene diisocyanate (TDI)

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ATTACKS EPA OVERSIGHT OF BISPHENOL A, HEXABROMOCYCLODODECANE

by Brad Johnson, ClimateProgress Green, June 8, 2011

In April, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency took long-delayed action to regulate extremely toxic chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act. Yesterday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce submitted a letter to regulatory czar Cass Sunstein, asking him to “[s]uspend the consideration and initiation of all TSCA§5(b)(4) listings” because “it appears EPA lacks the sound regulatory science needed to meet the statutory threshold for a restriction or ban of the targeted chemicals.” The toxic chemicals the Chamber is defending are: Bisphenol A (BPA), benzidine-based dyeshexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), long-chain perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), nonylphenol (NP) and nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), phthalates, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), and toluene diisocyanate (TDI). [Common sense tells me we already know how toxic these chemicals are, and so do the companies that produce them, like, for example, Koch Industries.]
