J. P. Steffensen: Current warming on Greenland has exposed 2,000-year-old ice

UPDATE:  OK, I listened to this interview again (at least 4 times actually) and what I think he is saying is that the ice they are standing on was laid down over 60,000 years ago, with the currently exposed layer going back to the destruction of Pompei in 79 A.D. or nearly 2,000 years ago, so yes, it is experiencing warming that is great than that of the era when the Vikings arrive (not from Minnesota).

***********************************
Some of the interview is out of sequence as for example when the scientist mentions that the ice is 60,000 years old, then begins talking about the eruption of Vesuvius that destroyed Pompei; but, please pay attention --60,000-year-old ice is being exposed by the current warming -- obviously this means that Greenland is now experiencing far more warming than it ever did during the Medieval Warm Period.
