Republican Professor Barry Bickmore on the birther business

Here’s the thing about this Birther business.  I can’t prove the birth certificate wasn’t forged, but I can look up Obama’s birth announcement in a couple 1961 Honolulu newspapers.  Unless I want to believe that Obama’s granny faked the announcement in anticipation of her infant grandson’s future run for President of the United States, I have to conclude that he was, in fact, born in the United States, and therefore the question of the authenticity of his birth certificate makes no sense. [Readers, note that it would also make no sense for his grandmother to get this in the paper for reasons of U.S. citizenship because Barack, even if born abroad, would automatically have U.S. citizenship because his mother was a citizen.]

Obama’s birth announcement from the Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday, Aug. 13, 1961.
What I’m saying is that this is THE STUPIDEST conspiracy theory I have ever seen

Even if the grandmother had wanted to place the notice in the newspaper, she could not have. Why not? Because the notices only came from the DOH of Hawaii at the time. They were not ads, they were official birth notices. That is why the section of the paper is called "Health Bureau Statistics."

So only the DOH could have sent the notice, and at the time the DOH only sent out those notices for births in Hawaii.

Other proof: The Hawaii birth certificate itself, its confirmation repeatedly by officials of both parties, and the Index Data--a public file showing the birth certificates on file in Hawaii--that shows one for Obama under 1961. Oh, and the sheer improbability that Obama's mother (who was not rich) would have traveled thousands of miles from Hawaii late in pregnancy (which was very rare in 1961). And, since WND has proven that Obama senior was actually in Hawaii on August 4, 1961---she would have had to have made the trip alone. How likely is that???
