Y'all know that I am not one to repost articles here about cute animals and all their problems (of which there are many). I have tried to keep the emotion out of this. But now, we have corrupt officials at BOEMRE going after honest, hard-working scientist who are just trying to do their jobs, and I can't really express how outraged I am about this. They have investigators who don't know how to do simple ratios, who don't know how to read scientific articles, who don't know what generally goes into the abstracts of scientific articles, who don't know the meaning of the word parsimonious, who can't understand qualifiers like if, could, maybe, likely, possibly -- I mean, we have a veritable gang of Keystone Kops up there running roughshod over people whose scientific results are being suppressed by the very government agency that is supposed to protect things up there in Alaska, and our tax dollars are paying for the research and they don't want us to see it because their oil company buddies might get kinda upset, and they sure don't want to upset that cozy relationship, which is obviously more important to them than the citizens of the U.S. (Shell Oil is not a U.S. company, for those of y'all who do not already know this.)
So, I'm going to be posting a lot about this polar bear story and the scientists who are being damaged by doing what they were supposed to be doing. The real investigation should be of BOEMRE and its investigators.
