CREDO statement on rejection of Keystone XL

CREDO Action released the following statement in response to President Obama rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline:
“It took years and a level of activism not seen in at least a generation, but President Obama has heard the calls of the candidate Obama that Americans elected and re-elected to fight climate change,” said CREDO Climate Campaigns Director Elijah Zarlin.
“This is a massive victory that marks a tectonic shift from President Obama’s disastrous ‘all of the above’ energy strategy,” Zarlin continued. “This victory simply would not have been possible without the huge commitment of activists across the country, notably the nearly 100,000 people who signed the Keystone XL Pledge of Resistance, and were prepared to unleash the biggest wave of mass civil disobedience in a generation if necessary to protest a presidential approval.”
“This is a victory for committed grassroots activists, and for the entire planet,” Zarlin added.
