When we see records being broken and unprecedented events such as this, the onus is on those who deny any connection to climate change to prove their case. It is unfortunate that in the background was images of glaciers calving instead of sea ice. And the moderator also talks of ice sheets instead of sea ice. While I am convened that the Arctic will be nearly ice free in the summers within a decade I am not quite sure of "three to four years". Also I am not at all convinced that geoengineering provides an answer, even a partial answer.

Next year's melt will depend on the thickness over the winter.
However, note that the ice is not reforming to the depth that it might have 10 years ago -- the water beneath it has gotten too warm.
