Greenland's Ice Sheet going down like a snowcone at the ballpark in July

Folks, I hate to say this, but it is looking very bad for Greenland's ice sheet.  I am posting 4 images (from 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011).  I have never seen the explanation for the shades of gray, but it seems to me that they are related to reflectivity in some way.  This means that instead of seeing the visual, which would be mostly whitish to our eyes, we can see the different states of the ice sheet.  This gives us a much better picture of what is going on, in spite of the very low resolution of these images (which, btw, are composed of swaths that are a hodgepodge of images varying from recent to up to about 3 days old, and there are some black gaps where the swaths did not cover all the territory).
