Jakobshavn Isbrae, August 5, 2010

Jakobshavn Isbrae, August 5, 2010

Ha! If you thought the Jakobshavn Glacier was sliding out fast, just have a look to the south where the heights of the edge of the ice sheet are melting en masse and flowing out toward the western shores.  Click on the photo, then click on it again once a new page opens to see the best magnification of the melt lakes.  Note the grey stuff flowing out into the water -- that is coming from the rocky sediments ground out of the land beneath the ice sheet.
