Petermann Glacier, Greenland, July 8, 2009: Melt Lakes and Moulins

Even I couldn't believe my own eyes when I saw this Terra/MODIS image of melt lakes on the Petermann Glacier (click on the image to enlarge it):

    See also this shot from June 30th last year. Beautiful moulins and rivers. I imagine you're following the Arctic Sunrise blog?

    Thanks for that excellent link to the MODIS photo of the Petermann Glacier from last year -- it is really clear. I had no idea the melt lakes were so extensive up in northern Greenland.

    Yes, I am trying to follow the Arctic Sunrise blog. It's worth a couple thousand times what a few words on my part are.
