What do Greenland and Swiss cheese have in common? Better yet, what do the GrIS and a snow cone have in common?

In case you don't recognize that thing sticking out into the water, that is the floating end of the Jakobshavn Glacier. Click on the photo. The enlarged image will show you the numerous meltwater ponds -- after all, it has been in the 50s for a while. Notice how the melt ponds seem to be connected by depressions running between them. OK, if that is difficult then click on the photo below:

Do you know what is not in this photo? (I cropped it considerably.)

[Click on it, you lazy butt!]

Lemme c, thousands of meters' deep ice bearing down on that snow cone stuff?

When you were a little kid, did you ever go to a ball game on a warm summer day and buy a snow cone? Seems to me I liked the cherry ones, or the blue ones.
I know what happened to them, too.
