BTW, I frequently monitor those sites : "WCRP Climate and Cryosphere Research Programme", meta-RSS ; and Circumpolar Musings, on http://dl1.yukoncollege.yk.ca/agraham/, in very interesting, too. And, the NSIDC has posted an entry about Arctic for Jan 2008 (http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/ - also a synthesis for 2008: "Heading into 2009, the Arctic sea ice cover is again young and thin; given this set-up, a continuation of well-below-average sea ice extent in 2009 is a near certainty."
