Perhaps it's because, like others who were interviewed in the film, McKibben sought to avoid the question about burning trees to produce energy. If he truly believes that burning trees is the solution, as he is shown on video during a lecture in the film, then why not simply say so?

The bottom line is that neither McKibben nor the others who have attacked the film on the ground that it is somehow "right wing" or amounts to "ecofascism" simply have no facts to support THEIR position -- much less how or why the film is inaccurate or defamatory.

It's pretty sad when the president of the Sierra Club refuses to even present the organization's position on biomass, claiming that it's "too nuanced" to discuss on camera. And it is even more disheartening to see someone like McKibben touting plans to burn trees -- and go so far as to say that burning "all those wood chips" is "beautiful" -- while claiming that it's Michael Moore who is doing damage to the movement McKibben ostensibly championed all those years.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12089152951239898373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579549341020421678.post-28630313525863430842020-04-21T09:46:28.509-05:002020-04-21T09:46:28.509-05:00What we are doing to ourselves is horrendous! Of is it for a doubling of all GHGs? Either way, CO2 is the big factor and we have already increased it enough to get 50% of the ECS eventually. Seeing as how temps are up 1C over 1750, It seems that TCR might be about 2C so ECS must be higher. Even at the old consensus best estimate of ECS ~3C, we are blowing past the +1.5C target now. If the new consensus is the middle of the mentioned range (4.3C, still within the old range)we have already exceeded the +2C limit.Nick Dangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17627931129807010050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579549341020421678.post-26461999182827072102019-02-15T03:13:49.890-06:002019-02-15T03:13:49.890-06:00“A new study on ice cores shows that reductions in...“A new study on ice cores shows that reductions in sea ice in the Arctic in the period between 30-100,000 years ago led to major climate events. Whatever.....
Sorry, but the time to try to do something has long passed. That time was probably when James Hansen had that meeting with congress , telling them that we had a big problem. Many were laughing ...some still are....and no action.
So don't blame Trump, blame instead the whole political and economic system of the West and USA in particular.
Anybody that thinks Global warming can be stopped , they better think again. It won't work, even if we stop the whole planet in its tracks at this point. Just stopping accelerates the warming because the "particles" that reflect some solar energy into space are produced by the present system, as byproduct of burning coal and oil.
Geo-engineering? Really? We have Geo-engineered this planet for 200 years and look where we are today. So ask yourself the question , do we have 200 years to undo what we have done ? Most good science it's giving us no more than 50 years to extinction, and in ten we will have massive riots for food and water and essentials . In fact that is going on right now in some parts of the world, if you watch the right news. Agriculture is collapsing in many places on the planet. And extinction of other life forms is going at a very fast rate.
Just make USA to stop it's never ending wars, bring some peace to all, and let's prepare for termination in a humanly way,
if the word "human" has any value at all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579549341020421678.post-74215412208226712442017-06-26T15:26:23.503-05:002017-06-26T15:26:23.503-05:00My business has totally tanked. Despite writing se...My business has totally tanked. Despite writing several thousand articles on climate change (Survival Acres), Americans have refused to prepare in any meaningful ways.

I finally threw in the towel after 22 years of trying to wake up Americans and closed the blog I wrote, there was simply no interest or support from my fellow Americans on this topic, they've turned their backs on reality and it looks like they intend to stay that way.

It's an industry-wide business collapse too (long-term food), not just us with many companies closing their doors, or dropping entire product lines. And now (today in fact), prices have just jumped 40% (average) across the board for these long-term food products. This is the largest single price increase I've seen in 22 years. Prices have now tripled what they were just a few years ago. The reason is climate change: crop losses, poor harvests, excessive heat, rainfall and pollination problems.

These are not 'fixable' issues either, they are now found throughout the entire world as the energy imbalance impacts human agriculture. This isn't news for those that follow these topics, but it's been broadly ignored particularly by Americans. Our future food supply is increasingly imperiled and this can only worsen now.

I've been expecting this 'hit' for a long time, but it means that being food-prepared will be that much harder. And it is going to matter - very much as prices and availability worsen. I've now reached the point where it's counter-productive to even make mention of climate change, food prices or availability - the "veil of denial" drops down like a dark cloud and nothing you can say is even heard.

We've entered into a very strange episode where reality is being widely denigrated and denied by the politicians and media, yet it only takes a tiny bit of evidence to refute their lies and deceptions. Cognitive dissonance has become a national disease.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579549341020421678.post-55935535930425867742017-06-23T06:01:22.306-05:002017-06-23T06:01:22.306-05:00INFORMATIVEINFORMATIVECIPLhttp://international.uonbi.ac.kenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579549341020421678.post-13622683415736363892017-06-12T04:34:58.600-05:002017-06-12T04:34:58.600-05:00Forget Trump, Climate change is real! Which is shameful. The media whores have capitulated to the status-quo (again) while the unfolding climate apocalypse gets worse and worse.

Trump is going to exact DECADES of damage (at a minimum), and more then likely, he will be the idiot that committed the world to a unrecoverable, unsurvivable disaster (because it will take many, many years to unravel the damage he is releasing). And even more likely then not, there will be no unraveling the damage he is causing.

Therefore, the Trump presidency means the climate goose is cooked (over-done and not fit for consumption, ie., human survival as we know it is forever doomed).

These are not specious claims. The window of opportunity for mitigation / adaption efforts is being slammed tightly shut. Missing this once-in-human-history chance means the planet becomes unlivable with increasing disasters, crop losses and wet-bulb temperatures exceeding plant/animal/human survival.

Trump is a moron. His crimes against humanity cause me to claim that he should be held up as the criminal that he is and charged with reckless endangerment to the entire world.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
