It is not based upon anything other then hopium (no science, no facts, no data).

If we only have ten years left to reverse hundreds of years of human interference, destruction and waste - does anyone really believe that this can be reversed in just ten years?

Moreover, the level of indifference is higher then ever - despite the claims by scientists and environmentalists that we are going over the cliff.

"Despite the utter clarity and unassailable validity of this science, higher education has generally failed to provide students with the tools to address the environmental challenges of the Environmental Century."

Haha! You mean SCIENTISTS have generally FAILED to issue strong enough warnings. Although "they tried", they obviously didn't try hard enough. They were not strident enough, unified enough, nor did they really "toss it all on the line" demanding to be heard (where it counts).

NEXT in line is government and policy makers. THIRD in line are the "higher education" institutions, who's job it is to prepare and advise and educate students for the future now unfolding.

It's quite ridiculous to blame the institutions of higher learning when they are simply doing what their charters are designed to do (churn out graduates). All of society is geared towards making more worker-slaves, based upon the capitalist model and this is light years removed from environmental protection or restoration or learning to live lightly upon the Earth. These institutions are definitely NOT designed to educate students on the damage they are ADVOCATING.

I suggest you go back and rewrite this article, rethinking your assumptions and prejudice. We have utterly failed as a society, as scientists and as institutions to prepare anyone for what lies ahead. The mere words I have read regarding this topic (here and elsewhere) do not even begin to do justice to the reality that is unfolding, or the sheer horror of what it is going to mean to be alive in 50 years. And STOP SPEWING THE "2100" LIE. You are off by DECADES on how hot it will be by 2050.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579549341020421678.post-68391583220518897692014-08-29T12:37:45.656-05:002014-08-29T12:37:45.656-05:00This blog is an excellent reference of climate cha...This blog is an excellent reference of climate change science.
